Episode 97: Getting Unstuck and Hitting Goals

As we head in to the second month of 2022, when many of us are wrangling with our intentions for the year, Sam explores the challenge of getting unstuck and making clear progress towards our goals. In her first solo podcast for the year, Sam shares her insights and the lessons she has learned around goal-setting, in Episode 97 of The Business Habitat,

With reference to James Clear’s “Atomic Habits”, Sam looks at why we get stuck and how improving our systems could be the answer to overcoming any obstacles in the path to our desired outcomes.

Many of us have had the experience of setting goals and making resolutions, only to find ourselves being distracted or losing motivation before reaching our target. By making simple, consistent changes to our processes, and considering who we need to be in order to achieve our goals, Sam shares how the incremental improvements we can make are key to our success.

Drawing on her own background, Sam provides clear steps we can take to build momentum and remain focussed on our journey. Whether it’s business or personal habits you’re looking to improve, or perhaps a combination of both, Sam’s insights in this episode are sure to have you re-evaluating your own progress.

“ ‘You don’t rise to your goals, you fall to the level of your systems’ – James Clear, Atomic Habits“

“When you set the goal, you need to ask yourself, who it is that you want to be when you’re at that goal. What would a person look like and behave like, to be at that goal“

“It’s not all or nothing. You just turn up and you do something, at your minimum. You’ve got to set your minimum here and say ‘what’s the minimum I want to put up with?’ “
