As Sam discussed in Episode 21 ‘Let’s take care of ourselves during Covid-19’, it’s important that during times of a pandemic, and any type of crisis for that matter whether it be economic, bushfires or something personal, we are offering support to our clients also.

As proactive advisors this will help us to be on the front foot of situations impacting our clients as well as help maintain and strengthen our relationships.

The first step is to check-in with clients to see how they’re going. We recommend you do this over the phone or set up a quick one-on-one video conferencing call with your client. Do not attempt to do this via email as it will not have the same impact and what you’re looking to achieve is a conversation around the following.

Purpose of the call

  • This is a personal call to check in on our client’s wellbeing - are they ok?

  • To make sure that our clients know that we care giving them the safe space to talk to someone with a listening ear

  • To get a quick snapshot of their business

  • Send any relevant resources to help our clients

We have created a downloadable script as a guide (fill in the form below) to help you make these calls at first.

It’s always best to have these calls as free-flowing conversations. However, the script is a guide to use with some conversation starters to support you in the process, and jog your memory on some important question to cover.

Before you download, I highly recommend you listen to Sam’s podcast to give you some further context around this process.

Download the script here.
